The Buffalo Who Raced Horses
A new Michif-language children’s book by Sherry Leigh Williams, rooted in Métis history and family memory. Several of the paintings in this show are illustrations from its pages — from the river valley where the story begins to the race that changes everything.
Funded by Métis Nation British Columbia.
IPW 2026 takes place on Salt Spring Island, within the ancestral and unceded homelands of Hul’q’umi’num and SENĆOŦEN-speaking Coast Salish peoples, including Nations with deep cultural, historical, and ongoing relationships to these lands and waters.
